Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two Clarence residents for Driving While Intoxicated on Monday night in separate incidents by Sheriff’s Road Patrols.

While on patrol in Clarence at approximately 6:40PM, Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz arrested Gordon Ewing (52) and charged him with Felony DWI and multiple traffic infractions.  The DWI was a felony due to a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years.  Mr. Ewing refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his Blood Alcohol Content.  Due to this refusal the Department of Motor Vehicles will revoke his license after a refusal hearing.

Later in the night, while investigating an unrelated accident, Deputy Biegasiewicz arrested Jacquelyn M. Rankin (48).  Knowing that the Sheriff’s Deputies were investigating the accident she drove to the scene to pick up her son.  Problem was she drove to the scene intoxicated.  She was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests, which she failed, and was taken to the Sheriff’s substation on Goodrich Road for processing.  Breath test administered by Deputy Gene Nati revealed her Blood Alcohol Content to be .12%.  After arrest processing she was released on appearance tickets to a sober third party.

These two DWIs raises the total Driving While Intoxicated arrests made by Sheriff’s Deputies in 2013 to 152.

"I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the citizens of Erie County for your support! Together, we will continue to make a our community a safer and better place to live."
