Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Wyoming County resident for driving while ability impaired by drugs, following a three vehicle collision in the Town of Marilla. Deputies responded to a report of a serious collision at about 10:30 this morning at the intersection of Clinton St. and Eastwood Rd.   A west bound car, driven by 18 year old Sarah Ulrich of Marilla was stopped at the above intersection waiting to turn south on Eastwood Rd.  Another west bound car, driven by Jerry L. Roll, age 59 of Cowelsville struck the Ulrich vehicle from behind.  Accident investigators, at the scene determined that Roll did not brake before colliding with Ulrich.  The force of the impact sent the Ulrich vehicle across the center of the roadway where it was struck by an east bound pickup truck.  The pickup truck was driven by James R. Pautler Jr., age 28, of The Town of Alden.  Pautler was treated and released at the scene by The Marilla Fire Company.  Both Ulrich and Roll were transported to the Erie County Medical Center by ambulance.  Ulrich was treated for minor injuries and released.  Roll remains at ECMC with serious injuries.   While at ECMC Roll was evaluated by a Sheriff’s Office Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be under the influence of drugs.  Roll was arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs and was also issued a ticket for following too closely.  Roll refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his impairment.  Roll stated to Sheriff’s Deputies at the hospital “I don’t want you to know about all the drugs in me.”  Roll was released due to his injuries, pending arraignment in the Town of Marilla Court on July 9, 2013.

"I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the citizens of Erie County for your support! Together, we will continue to make a our community a safer and better place to live."
