Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that the Erie County Sheriff's Office made two DWI arrests overnight.  These two arrests bring the total number of DWI arrests for the Erie County Sheriff's Office to 240 for 2013.

In the first incident, Deputy David Zamorek stopped a vehicle on Sheridan Dr. in the Town of Clarence for driving so slow as to impede traffic and making an unsafe turn.  Further investigation found that the driver, 46 year old Gary Brodziak of Clarence, was intoxicated.  Brodziak was arrested for DWI but he refused to submit to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content.  Brodziak was additionally charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation as his license had been previously suspended due to another alcohol related offense.  He was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Clarence Court at a future date.

In the second incident, Deputies Jason Clark and Simon Biegasiewicz were on patrol in the City of Buffalo as part of the Strike Force Detail when they stopped a vehicle for passing a stop sign on Harriet Ave. at E. Delevan Ave.  Further investigation found that the driver, 41 year old Kenneth Canty of Buffalo, was intoxicated.  Canty was arrested for DWI and taken to the Erie Co. Sheriff's  substation in Grand Island where a breath test showed that his blood alcohol content was .16%, twice the legal limit.  Canty was additionally charged with a violation of Leandra's Law as he had a two year old child in the vehicle with him.  Canty was taken to the Erie Co. Holding Center pending arraignment in Buffalo City Court.

"I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the citizens of Erie County for your support! Together, we will continue to make a our community a safer and better place to live."
